The annual Ginger Flower & Food Festival is one of Australia’s premier events showcasing the largest and most exquisite range of ornamental gingers and heliconias under one roof.
This January the Ginger Factory will burst into colour over three glorious days.
Complementing the very first blooms of the year will be some of the Sunshine Coast’s most popular chefs, gardening celebrities, artists and entertainers.
Linda will conduct organic gardening workshops in addition to her garden to plate cooking demonstrations.
She will also show visitors how to get the most out of their produce and how to make natural cordials and tisanes, together with green smoothies for health and vitality, plus some very creative summer salads.
Also appearing will be popular Sunshine Coast chefs, Martin Duncan of Freestyle Escape and Cameron Matthews executive chef at the two-hatted and multi-award winning Long Apron Restaurant at Maleny’s Spicers Clovelly Estate.
Local Sunshine Coast favourites Aki Kitabatake will educate and inspire with his popular Japanese cooking presentations, and executive chef at Noosa’s View on Little Hastings Restaurant, Michael Jenkins will impress visitors with his creative restaurant cuisine.
Local gardening identities will share their top gardening tips as they conduct daily garden walks throughout the Ginger Factory’s tropical gardens and walkways.
Gardening greats include ABC radio and television personality Phil Dudman and 4BCs gardening and talkback host, Clair Levander who will offer some great tips on ecology, bio-diversity and organic practices.
Carrying the organic theme through to the plate, is local Sunshine Coast chef, Monica Topliss of Your Organic Café, who will appear on Friday, January 18 to show how easy it is to prepare delicious gluten free and organic meals.
Adding to the expert line-up is the bubbly Dezley Hughes of Noosa Hinterland’s Twig & Grace. Her vibrant personality is matched perfectly with her amazing and creative knowledge of floral art and design that has featured in a range of Australia’s leading glossy design and living magazines.
Also appearing at the Festival is Kin Kin local, Natalia Broadhead who finished 5th on Channel TEN’s national ‘Renovators’ program. Her flair for home and garden design, metalwork and sculpture will inspire everyone to look at improving their own home spaces.
